The writer

Juan Rulfo is one of the greatest Latin American writers of the twentieth century. His stories, set in rural Mexico, combine reality and fantasy. His characters represent the daily life of the place and its socio-cultural conflicts.

Voice acting style

When the story I am reading has the narrator as the main character I need to use my voice acting skills.

This narrator has a rich, emotional interest. He feels resentment, hate, sorrow and repentance so I needed to find a voice that would conjure up the sense of this person and be able to express all these emotions.

It is important for me to start with a good understanding of the text and characters in order to create the right atmosphere. It is the little details in the reading: the fluctuation in tone and the speed, leaving space where it is needed, which build an intimate tension and and draw the listener in.

Audio production

The sound in the background is very important, it makes the story more real and above all, it places the listener in the present.

Juan Rulfo es uno de los grandes escritores latinoamericanos del siglo xx. En sus obras se presenta una combinación de realidad y fantasía transcurrida en escenarios rurales de México. Sus personajes representan la cotidianidad del lugar con sus grandes conflictos socio-culturales.

Estilo narrativo

Cuando la historia presenta al narrador como al personaje principal, allí es donde el actor emerge.

El narrador está lleno de emociones. En él se siente resentimiento, odio, tristeza y arrepentimiento y es por esto que necesitaba encontrar una voz que evocara el sentido de esta persona y pudiera expresar todas estas emociones.

Es importante para mí comenzar con una buena comprensión del texto y de los personajes con el fin de crear la atmósfera adecuada. Son los pequeños detalles de la lectura: la fluctuación en el tono de vos y la velocidad de la lectura, dejando espacio donde sea necesario, paranque se construya una tensión íntima y atraer asi al oyente.

Producción

El sonido de fondo es muy importante, porque hace que la historia sea más real y sobre todo, coloca al oyente en el presente.
